Committee formed, Assignments given; Chief Minister reviews Messi visit preparations
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired a high-level meeting to review the ongoing preparations for Lionel Messi’s much-anticipated visit to the state. The meeting, held in Thiruvananthapuram, also included Sports Minister V. Abdurahiman, Industries Minister P. Rajeev, the DGP, and the Chief Secretary, among other senior officials.
During the review, the Chief Minister directed officials to complete all stadium-related arrangements at the earliest. Detailed discussions were held on security protocols, crowd management, and logistical planning. The possibility of organizing a public fan meet was also explored during the session.
To ensure smooth coordination, the Chief Minister assigned an IAS officer to oversee the preparations and formed a special committee headed by the Chief Secretary. Additionally, the district collector has been tasked with leading coordination efforts at the local level. The meeting also discussed the possibilities of a fan meet.
Though the dates and the rival team are not revealed yet, Sports Minister V Abdurahman had confirmed that the fan show will be completely free, and there is no need for concern about security. The minister had said that the seating capacity would be fully utilized, considering security, and that the opponents would be announced within a week.
Minster assured that the work is underway to set up suitable facilities for the friendlies. Each fan across the state will be given the opportunity to witness a once-in-a-lifetime moment. There are many misconceptions about the stadium. The construction itself is on a different model. Many people don't know that. It was realized during the NIT inspection, asserted the minister.
With meticulous planning and inter-departmental coordination now in motion, Kerala is gearing up to host one of the most historic sporting events in its history- the arrival of the football legend himself, Lionel Messi.
